John McManamy is an award-winning mental health journalist and advocate and author of the highly-acclaimed "Living Well with Depression and Bipolar Disorder: What Your Doctor Doesn't Tell You That You Need to Know." He produces the leading mood disorders website, "McMan's Depression and Bipolar Web," blogs as an "expert patient" for HealthCentral and on wide-ranging issues in his own blog, "Knowledge is Necessity."

Mr McManamy has been cited for his ability to make highly technical information understandable to the wider public, leavened by humor, that speaks directly to personal experience. His next book focuses on the insights he picked up moving to San Diego's rural East County after arriving from New Jersey nearly four years ago.

In addition, Mr McManamy serves as Vice President on the board of NAMI San Diego.

NORTH INLAND MEETINGS CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!

program

Due to continuing low attendance at our monthly 2nd Tues Escondido educational evening meetings we will not be scheduling meetings until further notice. Over the past two years despite good speakers on a variety of topics there does not appear to be the interest there once was among North Inland members. However, our support groups are very well attended and we are happy to continue these. There is an educational meeting on the 1st Thurs of each month in San Diego and a NAMI North Coastal meeting in Carlsbad on the 3rd Thurs of each month. We do plan to host our annual family picnic in June and other special events through the year. Thank you to those faithful members who helped each month with our evening meeting, without you we would not have been able to provide this service. Should there be a renewed interest we will reintroduce the speaker night.
